Modular houses are now being installed in some areas in Tarragano, Davao Oriental for families that were severely affected by the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that hit the province on Oct. 10, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said the modular tents were installed in coordination with the local government units which identified the safest and most ideal area where the Bayanihan Village will be erected.
“The Bayanihan Village in Davao Oriental is now in full swing to provide safer and comfortable refuge to families rendered homeless by the recent earthquake,” said Aliling.
The establishment of the Bayanihan Village in Barrio Poblacion started immediately after the President visited Tarragona and other quake-affected towns in Davao Oriental last Oct. 13.
Tarragona is one of the hardest hit towns in the province.
Marcos ordered all government agencies to extend the necessary assistance to the affected victim.
Aliling said the modular houses were designed to provide safer and comfortable refuge to families rendered homeless by the earthquake.
