Classes suspended in Cavite due to 'Ramil,' influenza-like illnesses

- Class suspensions were declared across Cavite due to a weather disturbance, while separate suspensions in one city and two towns were prompted by health precautions against influenza-like illnesses.
Cavite Governor Abeng Remulla announced the cancellation of classes in the province on Monday, Oct. 20, due to the effects of tropical storm Ramil.
In a Facebook post on Sunday evening, Oct. 19, the local chief executive said the class suspension applies to all levels in public and private schools.

“Stay safe mga Caviteño! Iwasan muna lumabas kung hindi kailangan at patuloy na mag-monitor sa mga official announcements ng inyong mga lokal na pamahalaan (Stay safe, Caviteños! Avoid going out unless necessary and continue monitoring the official announcements of your local government units),” Remulla reminded his constituents.
Several local government units have also suspended classes for multiple days this week due to the rise in influenza-like illnesses.
In Trece Martires City, face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private, are canceled from Monday, Oct. 20, to Wednesday, Oct. 22.

“Ang hakbang na ito ay bahagi ng ating preventive measures upang mapigilan ang pagkalat ng sakit at mabigyang-daan ang disinfection at monitoring sa mga paaralan (This measure is part of our preventive efforts to curb the spread of illness and allow time for disinfection and monitoring in schools),” Mayor Gemma Buendia Lubigan said in a Facebook announcement.
The municipal governments of Ternate and Indang, meanwhile, also declared class suspensions from Monday, October 20, to Saturday, October 25.

Cavite State University–Main Campus, the largest university in Indang, announced that classes will shift to asynchronous learning for the duration of the suspension.
