Barangay Tangub is Bacolod MassKara Street Dance grand champion

BACOLOD CITY – Barangay Tangub was declared the grand champion in the 46th MassKara Festival Street Dance and Arena Competition here on Sunday, Oct. 19.
Led by Barangay Captain Noli Villarosa, Tangub, which last won the title in 2018, bagged the top prize of P1 million.
The group was named Most Disciplined Contingent, Best in Music, Theme and Concept, and Mask and Costume, earning them an additional P50,000 each.
They also received additional P20,000 from Mang Inasal and P20,000 from Dito Telecommunity.
Their winning performance was choreographed by Joedem Casabuena and Mark Philip Lamirez, with designer Christopher John Puerta.
Casabuena and Lamirez helped Barangay Granada achieve a grand slam in earlier editions of the competition.
Barangay Bata was first runner-up, taking home P500,000 and winning Best in Introduction.
Second runner-up was Barangay 29, winning P300,000 and the Merry Making Competition and Community Dance awards.
Barangay Tangub and Barangay Bata were first and second runners-up, receiving P20,000 and P10,000, in the merry making contest.
Barangays Bata and 29 earned P10,000 and P5,000 each from Dito Telecommunity.
Other participating barangays were Handumanan, 21, 39, 6, 13, 11, and 7.
The 19-day MassKara Festival concluded with a grand fireworks display at the Bacolod Public Plaza, following the final performances held at the Paglaum Sports Complex.
Mayor Greg Gasataya thanked the public and organizers for the successful celebration.
The event was spearheaded by the Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc. chaired by Rodney Mitz Ascalon.
Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco graced the arena competition at the Paglaum Sports Complex.
