A Nigerian man was arrested in Las Piñas for robbery-extortion that victimized a Filipino businesswoman, following an entrapment operation conducted by operatives from the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) of the Southern Police District (SPD).
Col. Sandro Tafalla, Las Piñas City Police chief, identified the suspect as Dennis, 38, a resident of Paco, Manila. He was apprehended inside a fast-food chain on Daanghari Road, Barangay Almanza Dos, Las Piñas City.
Tafalla said the victim, “Marie,”50, filed a complaint alleging Dennis demanded P1 million and threatened to expose information that could damage her business.
She also admitted that they had been in a relationship for three years, and the extortion began after their breakup.
The DSOU, along with the District Intelligence Division (DID) and the District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB), coordinated the entrapment operation that led to the suspect's arrest.
Police recovered from Dennis a genuine P1,000 bill used as marked money, boodle money, two brown envelopes, and two mobile phones.
The suspect is currently detained at the DSOU-SPD pending the filing of appropriate charges.
