Murder suspect hiding for 7 years nabbed in NAIA

A murder suspect who had evaded arrest for seven years was finally arrested by Pasig City police at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 in Pasay City last Oct. 16, the Eastern Police District (EPD) announced.
The 30-year-old suspect, identified as alias "Jef," was nabbed by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 157 without bail.
Police investigation revealed that the suspect, who was a former security guard in Makati City, shot and killed the victim because of jealousy in Antipolo City on Aug. 24, 2018.
Jef immediately escaped and hid from the authorities for seven years.
The suspect was detained at the Pasig City Police Custodial Facility while awaiting for the court's commitment order.
Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante, EPD director, lauded the police for their relentless pursuit and arrest of Jef.
“Ang pagkakaaresto ng suspek ay patunay na maaaring magtago ang kriminal, ngunit kailanman ay hindi siya makakatakas sa batas. Ang tagumpay na ito ay bunga ng pagsusumikap at tapat na paglilingkod ng ating mga pulis sa Pasig CPS. Patuloy nating ipatutupad ang batas nang may katapatan, disiplina, at malasakit sa mamamayan. Sa ating pagkakaisa, makakamit natin ang ligtas, payapa, at maayos na komunidad (The arrest of the suspect is proof that a criminal can hide, but he can never escape the law. This victory was the result of the hard work and loyal service of our police officers in Pasig CPS. We will continue to enforce the law with honesty, discipline, and concern for the people. With our unity, we can achieve a safe, peaceful, and orderly community)," Lagradante said.
