LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — Mining firms Filminera Resources Corp. and Philippine Gold Processing and Refining Corp. have extended over P10-million worth of relief goods and construction materials to several communities in Aroroy town in Masbate province affected by tropical cyclone ‘’Opong.’’
The two companies distributed food packs and rebuilding materials to residents of 15 barangays in coordination with the Aroroy municipal government with assistance from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Mines and Geosciences Bureau (DENR-MGB) and mining partners from Sept. 25 to Oct. 6.
Each relief bag contained five kilos of rice, eight canned goods, three noodle packs, three coffee twin packs, and eight bottles of water.
The two companies also provided galvanized iron sheets, nails, and plywood to enable residents reconstruct their homes.
Beneficiary barangays were Ambolong, Talabaan, Bangon, Balawing, Pinanaan, Lanang, Jaboyoan, Tinago, Puro, Panique, Amoroy, Capsay, Balete, Concepcion, and Luy-a.
Filminera and Philippine Gold also extended P28 million in financial assistance to their 758 employees and 1,163 contract workers.
FLS Group Philippines Inc. transported the materials from Cebu and Manila to Masbate.
Barangay officials and residents thanked the two companies for the timely aid.
