Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay on Saturday, Oct. 18, affirmed her commitment to improving the employment and education sector of Makati as she pushes for a more inclusive and people-centered city under her leadership.
On Oct. 16, the city government launched the Pantawid Trabaho Program (PTP), which provides temporary employment to 5,000 beneficiaries.
Under the program, qualified residents aged 18 years and above, including senior citizens and pregnant women who are fit to work, were hired to render community service for 15 days at a daily wage of P695.
The program aims to provide short-term income support while promoting productivity and social participation among residents.
The Makati Public Employment Service Office (PESO) also achieved an outstanding placement rate from the July to September, successfully helping thousands of referred job seekers secure employment.
Through its Internship Program, students, graduates, and out-of-school youth were placed in various city departments and barangays for hands-on training and work experience.
Approximately 2,000 individuals participated in the program, according to Binay.
Binay also announced that a Mega Job Fair will be held at Ayala Malls Circuit Activity Center on Oct. 23, bringing together numerous partner companies offering local and international job opportunities to applicants across various industries.
Her administration also highlighted its strong support for educators through the celebration of World Teachers’ Day, where 1,689 teaching and non-teaching personnel from public elementary, high school, and senior high school levels received Teachers’ Kits.
Each kit contained a jacket, shirt, mini fan, tote bag, and a gift voucher—a gesture of gratitude for their unwavering dedication to Makati’s learners.
“These accomplishments in our first 100 days reflect Makati’s continued drive to empower its people—by creating more jobs, investing in youth development, and honoring our hardworking teachers. We remain focused on building a city that provides opportunities and nurtures every resident’s potential," Binay noted.
