A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck off the coast of Manay, Davao Oriental on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 18, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
In its Earthquake Information No. 1, the agency said the tectonic quake occurred at 1:26 p.m. with a depth of 14 kilometers.
Phivolcs said the epicenter was about 134 kilometers southeast of Manay, Davao Oriental.
Per the agency, the quake was identified as an aftershock of the October 2025 Offshore Davao Oriental earthquake.
“This is an aftershock of the October 2025 Offshore Davao Oriental Earthquake,” Phivolcs stated in its bulletin.
It added that the tremor was tectonic in origin, which means it was caused by the movement of rock layers beneath the earth’s crust.
The agency said it does not expect damage or aftershocks following the tremor.
