Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto mourned the death of former Executive Secretary, general, and congressman Eduardo Ermita on Saturday, Oct. 18.
“Rest in peace, Ret. Gen. Eduardo R. Ermita. Thank you for your dedicated service to our nation. Our sincere condolences to the Ermita family,” Recto said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
His daughter, Balayan, Batangas Mayor Lisa Ermita- Abad, announced the passing of the 90-year-old peace advocate on Facebook.
“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we, the Ermita family, announce the passing of our beloved father, Gen. Eduardo Ramos Ermita (retired), a dedicated public servant and our guiding light,” Abad said.
“He passed away peacefully today, Oct. 18, 2025, at 8 a.m., surrounded by his loving family.”
Abad said her father lived a full life in steadfast service to the Filipino people. “As a soldier, he served with honor and dedication during some of the nation's most challenging times,” she added.
Vice Mayor Randy Afable and the Sangguniang Bayan of Tuy, Batangas also mourned the death of Ermita.
“Our heartfelt condolences to the family of Gen. Eduardo R. Ermita,” they said in Facebook post.
“Vice Mayor Randy Afable and the Sangguniang Bayan of Tuy join the nation in mourning the loss of a true statesman and exemplary leader whose legacy of service and patriotism will continue to inspire us. We pray for comfort and strength for his loved ones during this difficult time."
