President Marcos said all families displaced by the strong earthquake in Bogo City are now staying at the temporary shelters set up by the government.
During his return to Bogo City on Friday, Oct. 17, Marcos stated that he was satisfied with the response, stressing that all affected families temporarily living at the "tent city" have food and source of water.
"Maganda naman makita na malaki ang progreso (It’s nice to see that there’s been significant progress)," Marcos said during his visit at the tent city in Bogo City.
"So, I'm happy to report na meron na talaga lahat everybody, lahat na nasiraan ng bahay ay meron nang tinitirahan kahit na tent lang muna (So, I’m happy to report that everyone who lost their homes now has a place to stay, even if it’s just a tent for now)," he added.
"Lahat ng tao na naging biktima ay meron nang sinisilungan, meron silang kinakain, meron silang kinukuhanan ng tubig, meron silang ginagamit na toilet facilities na maayos (All the victims now have shelter, food, access to clean water, and proper toilet facilities)," the President further said.
He also reported that the tents put up to house the affected residents will be replaced by modular shelter.
"Pinapalitan na natin ang tent at nilalagay na natin yung mas maganda, mas matibay na housing para sa ating tinatawag na modular shelter na ating bagong binibigay pagka nagkakaganito (We’re now replacing the tents and building better, sturdier housing — what we call modular shelters — which we now provide whenever situations like this happen)," Marcos said.
Aside from cash assistance, Marcos said the government has also provided construction materials to help residents repair their damaged houses.
Help will also come soon for those who have totally lost their houses, the President assured them.
"Yung mga nawalan talaga ng bahay, babalikan natin (We will come back for those who have totally lost their houses)," Marcos said.
"But for now I think okay naman tayo. We'll keep working to make sure everybody's okay, everybody's healthy, everybody has what they need," he added.
Marcos went back to Cebu province to visit the temporary shelters and hospitals heavily hit by the 6.9-magnitude earthquake last month.
