QCPD files raps against agencies over Tomas Morato debris tragedy
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) filed criminal charges on Thursday, Oct. 16, against several agencies in connection with the falling debris incident on Tomas Morato Avenue in Quezon City.
The incident occurred on August 12 and resulted in the death of a minor and injuries to two others after a portion of concrete from the upper section of the Atherton Place Condominium collapsed and struck the victims.
QCPD filed cases against JCRV Properties Inc./JCRV Land and Holdings Inc., Atherton Condominium Corporation, Smart Communications Inc., and Edgepoint Towers Inc.
The agencies face a criminal complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in two counts of serious physical injuries filed before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on October 16, 2025.
QCPD created a Special Investigation Team (SIT) that worked closely with technical experts and concerned agencies to gather evidence, assess the building’s condition, and identify those responsible.
The team also collected sworn statements from witnesses and representatives of the involved entities while maintaining coordination with the victims’ families.
