To promote disaster preparedness and workplace resilience, the Quezon City Government has launched ALERT QC (Awareness, Lifesaving, Emergency Response Training) on Friday, Oct. 17, a large-scale program designed to equip businesses and employees with the skill to respond to emergencies.
ALERT QC, led by the Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD) and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), aims to build stronger, safer, and more resilient communities capable of anticipating and responding to disasters such as earthquakes, fires, and floods.
The program gathers business leaders, safety officers, and staff responders for practical training on first aid, fire safety, and emergency readiness.
It also introduces the BE RICHER (Resilient, Inclusive, Climate-conscious, Healthy, Emergency-ready, and Responsive) Scorecard, a comprehensive self-assessment tool that helps organizations evaluate their resilience.
Thirteen (13) training sessions are scheduled from November to December across major malls in Quezon City, with thousands of participants from small and medium enterprises, safety teams, and HR practitioners.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said the program reinforces the city’s mission to make Quezon City both a hub of commerce and a model for preparedness.
“Our goal is to make Quezon City not only a center of business, but a model of resilience and preparedness,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
“Through ALERT QC, we are working hand in hand with our business community to build workplaces that are safe, inclusive, and future-ready—places where both people and progress can thrive, no matter the challenges,” she added.
