A day after the successful staging of the World Class Excellence Japan Awards (WCEJA) 2025 on Oct. 8, 2025, at the New Otani Hotel, Asia’s Princess of Songs Emma Cordero met with an accident in Fukuoka, Japan.
Cordero, fondly called Emcor by friends and colleagues, is the chairman and founder of the prestigious WCEJA, which will mark its 9th year in 2025. She is also widely recognized as “Woman of the Universe," a title she received from Mrs. Universe in 2016.
According to eyewitness accounts, the OPM recording artist and philanthropist was walking and chatting with some honorees and awardees along a secondary road in Fukuoka when a speeding mountain bike suddenly struck her from the side.
The impact reportedly hit her right hip, sending her about two meters away onto the road. Her head hit the pavement, and she suffered multiple scratches and bruises on her hands, arms, and knees.
Fortunately, a large milk carton she was carrying absorbed much of the impact to her head, likely preventing a more serious injury.
“To be honest, I blacked out for a moment. I felt dizzy, my body was shaking, and I couldn’t move right away.
"My knee hurt so much when I tried to stand up from the force of the collision,” Emma shared.
Witnesses, including well-known vlogger KaCoffee, rushed to her aid. Director Obette Serrano, DZRH broadcaster Morly Alinio, and Vivian Ramos of PTV-4 also helped lift her to safety. Some WCEJA awardees who saw the incident also assisted in the rescue.
Police officers from Fukuoka City quickly arrived at the scene to assist.
Emma, who has been based in Fukuoka for several years, was later brought to a nearby hospital for a CT scan and medical evaluation to ensure that no serious internal injuries occurred. As of press time, Emma Cordero Toba is recovering and under observation.
