Good news for fans of the triple-diamond brand, as Mitsubishi Motors Corporation is preparing to introduce a new electrified crossover SUV concept at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show 2025, which will be held from October 30 to November 9 at Tokyo Big Sight. The vehicle will make its world debut during the event, marking Mitsubishi’s next phase in designing capability, comfort, and sustainability into its products.
The concept is yet to be named, but it is described as an all-new crossover that merges sleek urban design with off-road strength. Its exterior features a seamless and aerodynamic profile, while the cabin offers a versatile and relaxing environment that can transform into a lounge or sleeping space. Mitsubishi designed the interior to embody the idea of modern adventure, turning the vehicle into both a means of transport and a comfortable retreat for travelers.
The concept will showcase Mitsubishi’s expertise in electrification and all-wheel control, the very same technologies that underpin its current plug-in hybrid models. The vehicle is expected to demonstrate strong traction, precise handling, and quiet operation, reflecting Mitsubishi’s experience with electrified drivetrains since the introduction of the i-MiEV and the Outlander PHEV.
It will be presented under the theme “Forever Adventure,” which represents the company’s direction toward sustainable mobility while preserving the excitement of exploration. The theme is meant to capture the idea of timeless discovery and the brand’s continued focus on vehicles that allow people to travel farther with confidence but with a reduced environmental impact.
The company remains focused on combining innovation with reliability across its lineup, highlighting its core technologies of electrification, all-wheel control, durability, and comfort, all of which aim to deliver environmentally responsible vehicles that ensure safe and confident driving in varied conditions.
Mitsubishi’s booth at the Japan Mobility Show will also feature several activities designed to engage visitors and communicate the company’s brand philosophy. Under the “Forever Adventure” concept, the exhibit will recreate a desert landscape with immersive lighting and sound effects, giving guests a sense of exploration and wide-open spaces. Interactive features such as the “Drive Your Future” virtual experience will allow visitors to appear in simulated images riding inside the new concept car. This digital experience aims to help guests visualize what the next generation of Mitsubishi SUVs could feel like to drive.
The booth will also showcase “My Adventure Stories,” a series of voice-narrated short films featuring the Delica D:5, Delica Mini, Outlander PHEV, and Triton. Each story is accompanied by real vehicle sounds, such as engine notes and door clicks, to add authenticity. Another segment, “My Adventure Playlist,” compiles songs from Mitsubishi TV commercials, while social media posts from owners sharing their adventures with Mitsubishi vehicles will be displayed throughout the space.
For younger visitors, Mitsubishi will host child-friendly activities through “Out of KidZania in JMS 2025,” including a color design workshop for the Delica Mini and a car-painting experience inspired by the brand’s mascot, Deli Maru. Families can also participate in a digital stamp rally by scanning codes hidden around the booth to collect virtual stamps and earn exclusive memorabilia.
Alongside the concept vehicle, Mitsubishi will display several production models that reflect its adventurous character. These include the Outlander PHEV, the Delica D:5, and Delica Mini, as well as the Triton pickup truck. The Triton Rally Car that won the 2025 Asia Cross Country Rally will also be on display, emphasizing the company’s continuing involvement in motorsport and the development of rugged, reliable vehicles.
Visitors will have a chance to test drive the Outlander PHEV on public roads around the venue, providing an opportunity to experience Mitsubishi’s plug-in hybrid system firsthand. The brand will further showcase its motorsport history through a special exhibit titled “Mobility Culture: Yearning for Speed,” featuring the 1985 Dakar Rally-winning Pajero and the Lancer Evolution III that triumphed at the 1996 1000 Lakes Rally.
For Mitsubishi, these activities are a way to connect its future technologies to the everyday experiences of its customers. It is also a great way to remind consumers of the rich off-road and adventure legacy that the brand holds. By combining interactive engagement, storytelling, and product display, the brand is positioning its electrified models as an evolution of its core values: endurance, innovation, and adventure.
While Mitsubishi has yet to confirm production plans for the new crossover concept, its design and technological cues are expected to influence future models for global and regional markets. For the Philippines, the vehicle’s combination of hybrid power, all-wheel control, and comfort-oriented design offers a preview of how the brand’s future SUVs could evolve. As Mitsubishi aims for a fully electrified lineup by 2035, this concept marks a significant step toward that vision. The brand’s future will continue to center on vehicles that invite people to explore, connect, and enjoy the journey, wherever the road leads.
