Mayor Isko says Manila to produce more doctors as PLM tops 2025 Physician Licensure exams
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Friday, Oct. 17, commended the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) for being the top-performing school in the 2025 Physician Licensure Examination after 104 out of 105 of its examinees passed the test, earning for the university an outstanding 99.05 percent passing rate from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

“We will continue producing more doctors, we will continue helping in nation-building,” the mayor stressed.
“Congratulations to the entire PLM community for this outstanding achievement. You have once again proven that PLM is not only a source of pride for Manila but also a pillar of hope for the Filipino people. Our doctors, trained in the heart of the capital, continue to raise the bar of public service and professional excellence," Domagoso said, calling the achievement a continuing testament to the university's uncompromising pursuit of excellence and service to the nation.
He vowed to continue the city government's commitment to strengthening its support for PLM, starting with the P19.85 million allocation in student allowances and the release of P58.75 million in subsidies to the city-funded university.
Domagoso said the city is also eyeing to convert the old Ospital ng Maynila building into the new PLM Academic Building for Health Sciences within two years—a key initiative to expand the university’s capacity to train future medical professionals.
He first bared the plan in August during a PLM Board of Regents meeting, saying that the future PLM Academic Building for Health Sciences will help address the university’s growing need for space and expand its capacity to train more health professionals.
The facility will be retrofitted and redesigned to accommodate classrooms, laboratories, and advanced medical equipment, ensuring a modern learning environment for future health professionals.
