HUMAN trafficking victims rescued in Isabela City, Basilan province.
ZAMBOANGA CITY – Four minors were rescued from a suspected human trafficker during an entrapment operation in Isabela City, Basilan province on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
The 45-year-old suspect and resident of Barangay Sunrise in Isabela City, identified only as Jay-R, was taken into custody by authorities.
A male and three female victims, all minors, were said to be targeted for exploitation by Jay-R.
The minors were placed under the custody of the Isabela City Social Welfare and Development Office while the suspect was detained at the Isabela City Police Station.
Jay-R is facing charges for violating Republic Act 9208, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.
The operation was spearheaded by the Women and Children Protection Center-Mindanao field unit in coordination with various government agencies.
