'Font-tastic!': Netizens tease Mayor Vico after discovering new font skills
“Flood control project? No. Font control project? Yes!”
Amid ongoing talks about flood control projects, netizens seem to have shifted their attention to a lighter kind of project—Mayor Vico Sotto’s newfound hobby of experimenting with various fonts for his social media posts.
Recently, Sotto went viral after commenting on a post by the Pasig City Public Information Office about the blessing of a mobile kitchen and 60 emergency cabinets, which used bold fonts in its captions.
“Pano nyo ginagawa yung iba ibang font (How did you guys make that different font?),” he said.
Netizens were quickly hooked by Sotto’s comment, prompting various Facebook pages and even TV networks to join the fun and ask how to change fonts.
A post by the Facebook page “Klasik Titos and Titas of Manila” showed a conversation teaching Sotto how to change fonts, captioned, “POV: Tito mong natuto mag change font sa Facebook (That uncle who just learned how to change fonts on Facebook).”
The mayor seemed to have learned quickly, as he immediately used various fonts in one of his posts about the new Pasig City Hall, which once again amused netizens online.
Some of the netizens replied:
"It's more font in Pasig, Mayor!”
“Now you need font control, Mayor.”
“The font control project we deserve.”
“Flexing his newly acquired skills immediately”
“Font-tastic!” and “You know someone is really good and smart when he has a sense of humor like this lol,” among others.
Meanwhile, some netizens still wanted to join the fun of using different fonts but did not know how. In an Instagram post about Sotto’s font meme, one user commented, “Paano nga ba ginagawa ‘yun? (How do you do that?).”
Sotto suddenly replied, “Nyaha, di marunong!! (Doesn’t know how!!),” a remark that once again amused netizens, with some joking that he’s already getting full of himself now that he’s learned it.
With his naturally funny side, some netizens said he really takes after his father, Vic Sotto, a well-known Filipino actor, comedian, and television host, best known as one of the main hosts of the long-running noontime show “Eat Bulaga!” and for his iconic comedy films and TV sitcoms.
