DOH to expand probe, activate citizen audit on idle Super Health Centers

The Department of Health (DOH) has announced that it is expanding its investigation into the implementation of Super Health Centers (SHCs) across the country, in coordination with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) 
This, as DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa reported to the ICI on Friday, Oct. 17, regarding the Super Health Centers.
In an advisory, the DOH said it will continue its case-building efforts for SHCs with previously verified listings. 
The number of centers under review has risen from 297 to 300, it noted.
Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo, the spokesperson of the DOH, noted that it is still being looked into whether the 300 Super Health Centers were implemented by the DPWH.
“Ilan sa mga susunod na hakbang na gagawin ng DOH at ICI: Itutuloy ng DOH ang case building ng mga Super Health Centers na may nauna nang listahan. Mula sa 297, umakyat ito sa 300 (Some of the next steps to be taken by the DOH and ICI: The DOH will continue case building for previously listed Super Health Centers. From 297, the number has increased to 300),” the agency stated.
The health department added that the ICI will support the continuation of the investigations being led by the DOH.
“Susuportahan ng ICI ang pagpapatuloy ng mga imbestigasyon na pangungunahan ng DOH (The ICI will support the continuation of the investigations to be led by the DOH),” DOH said.
As such, the DOH said it will activate the Citizens Participatory Audit, a mechanism that enables the public to report stalled or incomplete health facilities.
“I-aactivate ng DOH ang Citizens Participatory Audit dahil simula nang isinapubliko ng DOH ang imbestigasyon, nakakakuha na ito ng reports mula sa publiko tungkol sa mga naka-tenggang Super Health (The DOH will activate the Citizens Participatory Audit because since the investigation was made public, the department has been receiving reports from citizens about idle Super Health Centers),” it stated.
Earlier, the DOH launched an internal probe into the status of hundreds of SHCs nationwide amid alleged delayed construction and idle facilities, saying the audit aims to ensure accountability and transparency in the use of public health funds.
