CEBU CITY – Authorities in Danao City, northern Cebu province reminded residents to always obey traffic rules.
The reminder was issued after the city recorded 401 traffic-related incidents from January to September this year.
Five resulted in homicide, 153 led to physical injuries, and 243 caused damage to properties.
The data was presented on Wednesday, Oct. 15, during the monthly report by the Danao City police led by Police Lt. Col. Hendrix Bancoleta.
Present were Mayor Nito Durano, Vice Mayor Ivy Durano, personnel of the Land Transportation Office, the city’s Traffic Management Office, and key department heads.
According to the police, human error remained as the main cause of road accidents.
Vehicular accidents happened mostly during weekends and rush hours.
Mayor Durano tasked the police and the TMO to strengthen their road safety measures.

In his report, Roland “Jikjik” Reyes of the city disaster risk reduction and management office said Danao is equipped with speed guns, breath analyzer, and decibel meter that could help enforce stricter traffic discipline.
