China donates P4-M relief goods to Davao Oriental quake victims

DAVAO CITY – The Chinese Consulate General in Davao turned over at least P4-million worth of relief goods for earthquake-hit communities in Davao Oriental province on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Gov. Nelson Dayanghirang received the items from Deputy Consul General Wang Mingqing at the Provincial Capitol Gym in the City of Mati.
Representatives of the Association of Davao Fil-Chinese Communities here also handed over an additional P700,000 in relief assistance.
“We hope these will help the people in Davao Oriental get through the disaster. At this difficult time, our hearts are with the people in Davao Oriental,” Mingqing said.
Four trucks of relief aid delivered at the Incident Command Post (ICP) consist of emergency food supplies, including rice and canned beef.
The provincial government reported that as of Oct. 15, 176,906 families in the province have been affected by the twin earthquakes on Oct. 10.
Nine people were killed and 11,381 houses were damaged, 752 of which were totally destroyed.
