VP Sara joins World Pandesal Day celebration in QC bakery on Oct. 16

Vice President Sara Duterte will join this year’s celebration of World Pandesal Day where a total of 100,000 free breads will be given away on Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Kamuning Bakery Café in Quezon City.

Wilson Lee Flores, owner of Kamuning Bakery Café, said World Pandesal Day, a community-focused event, is one of the country's most delicious and heartwarming traditions.
Free, warm, and freshly-baked pandesal will be given away from the 86-year-old Kamuning Bakery Café in Barangay Kamuning, Quezon City, to continue the legacy of celebrating the Philippines' favorite bread and also highlighting the need to solve the age-old problem of hunger. October 16 is also the United Nations' World Food Day.
Vice President Duterte’s guesting in this year’s World Pandesal Day continues the bakery's tradition of hosting high-profile figures, following last year's guests -- Senator Imee Marcos and Senator Ping Lacson.
Past visitors to the bakery have also included President Bongbong Marcos, former Vice President Leni Robredo, and Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Flores said one of his inspirations for World Pandesal Day is the Bible miracle story of a boy's donation of five loaves and two fishes multiplied by Jesus Christ to feed thousands.
Kamuning Bakery Cafe will also host a free medical, dental and optical mission on Sunday, Oct. 26, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, with the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center.
Among the other civic projects of Kamuning Bakery Cafe are the yearly donations of rural public school buildings, the non-partisan Pandesal Forum, and the annual World Poetry Day celebration on March 21. In the next three years, Kamuning Bakery Cafe is committed to donate 12 rural public school buildings in cooperation with the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII).
