QC LGU to shoulder burial expenses of Sto. Domingo fire victims
The Quezon City Government will shoulder the burial and cremation expenses of the three children who perished in a fire that broke out along P. Florentino Street, Barangay Santo Domingo, on Tuesday, October 14.
In a statement on Wednesday, Oct. 15, the city government extended its condolences to the bereaved families.
The City Government extends its deepest condolences to the families of the three children who died and to all the victims of the fire in Barangay Santo Domingo. Their passing is a deep sorrow not only for their loved ones but for our entire community),” it said.
As part of its response, the city will shoulder all costs to ease the burden on the victims’ families.
“Sasagutin ng lungsod ang lahat ng gastusin mula burol hanggang cremation ng tatlong bata (The city will cover all expenses from burial to cremation of the three children),” it said.
The city government will also provide psychosocial support to help the grieving families cope with their loss.
We will also provide psychosocial intervention to provide strength and support to their families during this time of intense grief),” it added.
In addition, financial assistance and disaster relief packages will be distributed to all affected residents.
The city is also studying the possibility of endorsing them to the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP) of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) to help them rebuild their homes.
We will continue to fight for a safer and more fire-prepared community. We cannot bring back their loved ones, but we can ensure that such a tragedy never happens again),” it said.
