Polytechnic University of the Philippines beat DAX-GF, 4-2, to capture the Asaphil-Cebuana Lhuillier Men’s Softball Invitational held recently at the Montano grounds in Cavite City.
Beyond the win, PUP’s Jehanz Coro bagged the Most Valuable Player (PVL) and Best Pitcher Awards. Kenneth Torres, likewise, swept the hitting awards, taking home the Best Hitter, Best Slugger, Homerun King, and Most RBI. Francis Generoso also won the Most Stolen Base award.
Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) President Jean Henri Lhuillier underscored the impact of having tournaments such as this in developing future athletes.
“There is extraordinary talent across the archipelago, and this invitational tournament reaffirms our resolve to continuously nurture homegrown talent and provide Filipino softball athletes with the platforms they need to achieve greatness,” said Lhuillier, who is CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier.
“Cebuana Lhuillier’s commitment to ASAPHIL is unwavering; we are building a deliberate system that values patience, consistency, and teamwork across every level of the sport to sustain excellence and ensure the Philippines continues to shine bright in softball worldwide,” he added.
