Chinese nationals who want to visit the Philippines on a temporary basis may be issued electronic visas (e-Visas) starting next month as the Philippine Embassy in Beijing and its consulates prepare to launch the e-Visa program for China and its special administrative regions.
In a statement, the Philippine Embassy in Beijing said that Philippine Ambassador to China Jaime FlorCruz signed the Memorandum of Agreement with VFS Global Chief Executive Officer for Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Mongolia Kishen Singh on Wednesday, Oct. 15, to implement the presidential directive.
It added that the e-Visa program will be launched in November “as part of continuing efforts to strengthen people-to-people exchange and facilitate trade and tourism.”
The program, which is open to “qualified applicants” residing in mainland China and its Special Administrative Regions, can then apply for visas online.
FlorCruz said this makes the visa application process “more convenient” for those who want to visit the Philippines temporarily.
Under the program, Chinese applicants who want to visit the Philippines either for tourism or business can apply for the e-Visa “if they are travelling for a non-extendable period of 14 days.”
They must, however, enter through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Metro Manila or the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
“The implementation of the e-Visa comes at an opportune time,” FlorCruz said. “Under the leadership of Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro, the Department of Foreign Affairs met with the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in July 2025 for the Joint Consular Consultations.”

“The meeting discussed the importance of people-to-people exchange–incidentally also our thrust as the Philippine Embassy commemorates the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations this year,” he added, referring to the JCC held in June.
The embassy said it will soon provide more details about the e-Visa program, including relevant websites and procedures for the submission of requirements.
The program was made possible by the collaboration with Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and VFS Global in China.
Chinese travelers who wish to stay in the Philippines for more than 14 days, however, must still apply for the conventional visa through the nearest Visa Application Centers that will open in Beijing, Chongqing, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.
According to the embassy, China continues to be a major source of tourists for the region.
The e-Visa program was first launched and tested in Manila in 2023. It is expected to enhance the efficiency of daily consular operations and significantly improve the delivery of services to the public.
