Police seized around P7.8 million worth of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) products and refilling equipment in a raid in San Jose, Batangas over reports of alleged involvement in illegal cross-refilling of cylinders.
Police Maj. Gen. Robert AA Morico II said the operation also resulted in the arrest of two people who were allegedly caught in the act of cross-refilling of LPG cylinders without a License to Operate (LTO) from the Department of Energy (DOE).
Morico said his men conducted the operation based on the reports of the existence of an illegal refilling station in Barangay Natunoan in San Jose town last week.
“It is unlawful for any person, without the written consent of the registered manufacturer, bottler, or seller, to fill, sell, dispose of, buy, traffic in, or destroy containers marked with ownership marks, or to use them for purposes other than those registered by the owner,” Morico explained.
Seized during the operation were LPG cylinders bearing Regasco and Maxx Gas trademarks; 193 empty cylinders from assorted brands — Savers Gas, Mabuhay, Island Gas, PryceGas, Maxx Gas, Regasco, and Star Gas.
Also confiscated were refilling machines, compressors, weighing scales, a trailer bullet truck containing approximately 38,000 liters of LPG products, and a stake body delivery truck.
