Pink Ribbon Campaign marks 33 years of raising breast cancer awareness
Estée Lauder Philippines, HWAO, and the Litton family
It’s mid-October, and the Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign is in full swing. The Pink Ribbon was launched in 1992—marking 33 years of fostering awareness and promoting early detection. It’s a global initiative for the company, and here in the Philippines, the effort is both needed and appreciated.
Breast cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the Philippines. Compared with other ASEAN nations, both the incidence and mortality rates are unusually high. Evidently, there is still much to be done in terms of early testing, treatment, and patient navigation.
Invited as guest speakers for the afternoon were Tang Singson of the Helping Women and Others Foundation, oncologist Dr. Marvin Mendoza, and sisters Cesca and Issa Litton. Cesca Litton-Kalaw, who underwent chemotherapy earlier this year, shared her experience, while Issa Litton spoke about the importance of having a strong support group—from family to friends.
