Phivolcs: Magnitude 5.2 quake strikes off Manay, Davao Oriental

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred off the coast of Manay, Davao Oriental on Tuesday morning, Oct. 14, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs said the quake, which occurred at 10:19 a.m., had a depth of 10 kilometers.
The agency said the epicenter located 97 kilometers north and 84 kilometers east of Manay.
It added that the quake was tectonic in origin, meaning it was caused by the movement of rock layers beneath the Earth’s crust.
Phivolcs recorded Instrumental Intensity I in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro.
The agency said it does not expect damage, but noted that aftershocks are possible.
