The red-hot Perpetual looks to stretch its sizzling run to five games when it battles Letran in the NCAA Season 101 men's basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Fresh off a 72-67 victory over the gutsy Arellano side, the Altas go for their fifth straight win against the Knights in their 2:30 p.m. showdown next to an 11 a.m. clash between San Sebastian and Jose Rizal University.
Head coach Olsen Racela believes Perpetual’s effort is key to their early success as the Altas keep a strong grip of the Group A leadership.
"I like the way they are responding, doon sa gusto namin mangyari, they believed in the system that i put-in, grabe yung effort ng team," said Racela.
“Pero ‘yon ‘yong kailangan ng team, we are not as talented as other teams, kailangan bawiin namin ‘yon in other things and more effort in which I like more,” he added.
Perpetual expects a wall of defense from Letran which was evident in its first season win after four games at the expense of Emilio Aguinaldo College, 84-80, over the weekend.
Patrick Sleat, and Mark Gojo Cruz carry the scoring cudgels for Perpetual, while Titing Manalili and Deo Cuajao lead Letran’s back-to-back win bid.
Meanwhile, reigning champion Perpetual Junior Altas seek to cut their two-game slide against the Letran Squires at 8:30 a.m.
