ILOILO CITY — The Iloilo provincial government and Iloilo city government are sending aid to local government units (LGUs) in Cebu and Davao affected by recent strong earthquakes.
Iloilo Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. has allocated P5 million for Cebu which was processed a day before an earthquake hit the Davao region last Oct. 10.
Defensor said the provincial government has to determine the type of help it can give to Davao.
“But we have to know first what our capacity is at this point. Once we determine that, we will process it — we will help (Davao too),” Defensor assured.
On Monday, Oct. 13, Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas announced a donation of P200,000 each for both Bogo City in Cebu and Davao Oriental.
Treñas said the city government is currently finalizing the process of donation with the City Budget Office.
Iloilo City Councilor Sedfrey Cabaluna and the 3rd Civil Military Operations Battalion of the Philippine Army separately donated relief goods for affected residents of Bogo City.
