Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the removal of steel plates along the southbound lane of Magallanes Flyover in Makati City to ensure safer and smoother travel for motorists.
The action followed reports from concerned citizens through a public road monitoring platform about potential safety hazards, prompting DPWH to act immediately.
Dizon said the plates were initially installed to protect ongoing repair works on the flyover’s joints.
He added that only one steel plate remains temporarily to cover a missing joint, which is scheduled for repair within the week.
Photos and videos of the removal were sent directly to the concerned citizen as proof of the completed work.
To prevent similar hazards, Dizon directed DPWH personnel to conduct regular inspections of major roads and promptly address issues that may pose risks or inconvenience motorists.
“Thank you to the concerned citizens for reporting this. Tuluy-tuloy lang po tayo sa trabaho natin (Let us continue our work),” he said.
