Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the city recorded 200 cases of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) in June.
Rubiano said this as she led the inspection of public schools on Tuesday, Oct. 14, to ensure their structural integrity for “The Big One.”
The mayor directed school administrators to conduct misting and disinfection of all classrooms to prevent the spread of the disease.
Rubiano said health centers and other health facilities around the city have been placed on alert to attend to and prevent the spread of the disease. She also assured that the city has enough supply of medicines.
The mayor, together with the City Engineer, Engr. Johari Rangiris and Department of Education School Division Superintendent Dr. Joel Torrecampo, and the Public Information Office conducted a site inspection of school facilities upon the directive of the Department of Education (DepEd).
During the site inspection, Rubiano showed the sturdiness of the study tables where the students can seek cover during an earthquake.
The mayor said public schools also placed hard hats and emergency kits under the table of students for their use during an earthquake.
