The Rizal Provincial Government has suspended face-to-face classes at all levels in both public and private schools across the entire province from Oct. 14 to 17.
Gov. Nina Ynares made the announcement on her social media page around 9 p.m. on Oct. 13, encouraging schools to implement modular distance learning during the suspension.
She said she had ordered the inspection of all school buildings in the province to ensure the safety of students and school personnel.
Earlier, Antipolo City and Cainta have issued their respective class suspension advisories ahead of the provincial government’s announcement
In an advisory, Antipolo City Mayor Casimiro “Jun” Ynares III announced the suspension of face-to-face classes at past 7 p.m. on Oct. 13. The suspension covers all levels in the entire city from Tuesday, Oct. 14, to Friday, Oct. 17.
Mayor Ynares said prior consultation with Department of Education officials and school heads in the city had prompted the city government to declare the four-day suspension of in-person classes due to reports of increasing flu-like illnesses and other communicable diseases.
Ynares said schools are encouraged to implement alternative learning modalities during the suspension of face-to-face classes.
In Cainta, Mayor Johnielle Keith Nieto also announced the four-day class suspension from Oct. 14 to 17.
Nieto said the suspension was in line with the Department of Education's advisory allowing school authorities to suspend classes amid reports concerning structural stability of school buildings and other health-related issues.
Nieto said the municipal government’s engineering team had started inspecting school buildings in the municipality to assess structural soundness. The findings from these inspections will serve as the basis for further decisions in the coming days.
