Mayor Vico's witty 'payong' post draws laughs online

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto once again brought smiles to netizens after sharing a lighthearted social media story showing him seated behind the wheel of a city truck on Monday, Oct. 13.

The original post, shared by Pasig City Concilor Paul Senogat, featured the mayor inside the vehicle with the caption, “Mayor, san punta? (Where are you going, Mayor?).”
Sotto later reposted the photo on his own account, pairing it with the background music “Pangarap Ka Na Lang Ba” by Renegade Stories and adding his own witty caption:
 “ Hinahanap ko yung payong, wala naman pala (I was looking for the umbrella, but there wasn’t any).”
The line, which many online users found humorous, appeared to be a playful reference to the now-viral “payong” (umbrella) quote of Sarah Discaya, who became a trending topic after admitting that she bought a luxury car because she was amused by its umbrella feature.
 “Kasi ito o, may payong. Natutuwa ako sa payong. Pero hindi ko pinagagamit itong payong na ito kasi mahal yung payong. [May] payong on both sides [ng pinto] (You see this? The umbrella, I found it really amusing. But I don’t let anyone use it because it’s expensive. There’s an umbrella on both sides of the door),” Discaya said in an interview, which went viral online. 
"So ayan yung feature ng Rolls na kaya ko siya nabili kasi natuwa ako sa payong (That’s actually what made me buy the Rolls, I was charmed by the umbrella feature),” she added.

Sotto’s relatable humor once again showed why he remains one of the most followed and talked-about public officials online, known not only for his good governance but also for his light, down-to-earth personality.
