The citywide activity began at Malabon National High School (MNHS) where cleaning, misting, and building checks were conducted to make sure classrooms are clean and structurally safe.
“Habang nililinis at dini-disinfect natin ang mga paaralan, sinisiguro rin natin na matibay ang mga gusali. Kailangan nating maging handa sa ‘Big One,’ lalo na’t sunod-sunod ang lindol sa mga karatig-lugar (While we clean and disinfect our schools, we also make sure that the buildings remain sturdy. We must be prepared for ‘The Big One,’ especially with the series of earthquakes in nearby areas),” she said.
The initiative was conducted in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd)–Malabon, MNHS officials, the City Engineer’s Office, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Office, and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).
Sandoval said the city government remains committed to maintaining schools that are clean, safe, and disaster-ready, emphasizing that preparedness and prevention are key to protecting the lives of students and teachers.
The local government will continue to conduct disinfection and inspection drives in all public schools in Malabon as part of its ongoing disaster preparedness and health safety initiatives.
