  • The new Toyota Ativ introduces a 1.5-liter hybrid variant as the brand's most accessible electrified model to date.
  • Built on the DNGA platform, the ATIV will be sold alongside the current TNGA-based Vios until further notice.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially launched the all-new Toyota Ativ, a new subcompact sedan designed to complement the long-running Vios in the brand’s local lineup. The Ativ, known in other markets as the Yaris Ativ, features a fresh design, a new hybrid option, and an extensive list of modern safety and convenience technologies.
According to TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations, Elijah Marcial, “The all-new Toyota Ativ is another statement of Toyota’s continued mission to bring electrified mobility within reach of more Filipinos. We know choosing your first car, and an electrified model at that, can be a bold decision, so the Ativ makes it simple and easy by delivering modern HEV features, while providing peace of mind with reliability, safety, ease of ownership, and joy of use.”

The Ativ rides on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA), a platform shared with compact models like the Raize and Wigo. It measures 4,425 mm in length, 1,740 mm in width, and 1,480 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm. Its design follows a fastback silhouette, giving it a sleek and modern appearance distinct from the current-generation TNGA-based Vios. Toyota Philippines refers to it simply as the Toyota Ativ, despite the Vios Ativ badging at the rear.
The Ativ will be sold alongside the existing Vios, although Toyota has yet to confirm which variants of the older model will remain in the lineup once sales of the new model commence.

Four variants make up the Ativ range: the 1.5 HEV CVT, 1.5 G CVT, 1.3 E CVT, and 1.3 E M/T. The top-spec HEV utilizes the 2NR-VEX hybrid powertrain, the same engine code found in the locally sold Yaris Cross Hybrid, combining a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for a total system output of 111-PS and 121-Nm of torque. The hybrid features a lithium-ion battery and benefits from drive modes including Eco, Normal, Power, and EV. Transmission is via a CVT driving the front wheels, and it is equipped with a 36-liter fuel tank, compared to the 40-liter tank used in gasoline variants.
The 1.5 G CVT uses a conventional 1.5-liter engine (2NR-VE) producing 106-PS and 138-Nm, while the 1.3-liter variants use a 1NR-VE engine generating 98 PS and 122 Nm. Both engines are paired with a CVT, and the base variant is also available with a five-speed manual.

Inside, the Ativ distinguishes itself through equipment differences between variants. The HEV features leather seats, a 10.1-inch display audio system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, and a seven-inch digital instrument cluster. It also comes with automatic climate control, a panoramic view monitor, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold.

The 1.5 G CVT variant uses fabric upholstery, a nine-inch display audio system, and retains the panoramic view monitor but omits hybrid-exclusive features such as the wireless charger and electronic parking brake. The 1.3 E CVT and E M/T variants are more straightforward, featuring fabric seats, a simpler audio system, and manual air-conditioning. All models come with power windows, smart entry with push-start ignition, and multiple USB ports.
The Ativ HEV variant comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), which includes Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beam, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Other standard safety features across the lineup include ABS with Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist Control, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. The HEV features six airbags, while the gasoline variants are fitted with dual front airbags.
A Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are available on higher trims, while the HEV and G CVT receive a panoramic camera system for enhanced visibility during parking. Braking systems also differ between models: the HEV and G CVT use solid rear discs, while the E CVT and E M/T use rear drum brakes.
Variants and prices
The all-new Ativ range is priced as follows: the 1.5 HEV CVT is priced at ₱1,198,000 and is available in Gray Metallic/Black, Scarlet SE/Black, and Platinum White Pearl/Black, with premium colors priced at ₱1,208,000. The hybrid variants feature two-tone finishes with black roofs, distinguishing them from the monotone gasoline models.
The 1.5 G CVT retails for ₱1,069,000 and comes in Gray Metallic, Scarlet SE, and Platinum White Pearl, with the premium colors priced at ₱1,084,000. The 1.5 G CVT model is also the only variant in the lineup with 17-inch wheels, while all others, including the HEV variants, feature 16-inch wheels.
The ATIV 1.3 is available in CVT and Manual Transmission versions, and features its own distinct looking 16-inch alloys.

The 1.3 E CVT is offered at ₱980,000 in Gray Metallic, Scarlet SE, and Metal Stream Metallic, with Scarlet SE priced slightly higher at ₱995,000. The entry-level 1.3 E M/T variant costs ₱916,000 and is available in the same three color options, with Scarlet SE again commanding a ₱931,000 price tag.

With the Ativ, Toyota Motor Philippines now offers its most affordable hybrid in the country, positioned below the Corolla Altis Hybrid and complementing the hybrid lineup that includes the Zenix, Corolla Cross, Camry, RAV4, and Yaris Cross. The addition of another DNGA-based subcompact broadens Toyota’s reach toward first-time car buyers who seek electrification without compromising practicality.
Sales of the all-new Toyota Ativ begin this October at Toyota dealerships nationwide, with a public display scheduled from October 24 to 26 at the BGC Amphitheater in Taguig City.
