DOLE steps up workplace family welfare campaign in Surigao del Sur

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has stepped up its campaign in Surigao del Sur in a bid to build what ir described as a healthier and more empowered workforce through workplace-based family welfare programs promoting well-being, family planning, and social inclusion.
The initiative was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between DOLE, represented by Senior Labor and Employment Officer Romelyn B. Bactol, and the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Caraga, led by Regional Director Alexander A. Makinano, together with 13 partner companies.
The partnership seeks to align company Family Welfare Programs (FWPs) with the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action (2023–2028).
Under the agreement, participating firms will enhance their FWPs by integrating reproductive health, adolescent development, gender equality, and labor empowerment measures into workplace systems and policies.
The program also focuses on responsible parenthood and family planning, workforce empowerment and healthy aging, and inclusive growth for marginalized sectors to promote worker well-being and sustain productivity.
DOLE’s Surigao del Sur Field Office will oversee company compliance, while CPD Caraga will extend technical support and training to ensure effective implementation.
The labor department said the initiative forms part of its broader effort to institutionalize family welfare programs nationwide and reinforce the link between worker welfare and economic development.
