'Brilliant' Sandro Marcos hailed for efforts during budget process

Majority Leader Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos drew praise from fellow ranking congressmen on Monday, Oct. 13 as the House of Representatives passed the proposed 2026 national budget on third and final reading despite facing unique challenges.
No less than House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy recognized the presidential son's efforts.
In his speech in plenary Monday afternoon, the Isabela 6th district congressman made special mention of Rep. Marcos and said, "To our majority bloc led by our Majority Floor Leader Sandro Marcos, thank you for your unity, perseverance, and dedication to the process."
Other House member applauded Rep. Marcos, who was present.
Earlier, before nominal voting was about to begin on the P6.793-trillion General Appropriations Bill (GAB) for 2026 was Nueva Ecija 1st district Rep. Mikaela Angela "Mika" Suansing spoke on the floor and gave the Ilocano his flowers.
"I am happy to report that we have successfully implemented these reforms and have successfully navigated through all of the complexities of the past two months to deliver today a version of the [GAB] that we can be proud of. And we would not be able to reach this point without everyone’s tireless efforts and collective wisdom," she said.
Suansing specifically thanked the "Committee on Rules family who helped shepherd the deliberations —led by our brilliant Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Marcos".
Rep. Marcos was arguably the glue that kept the majority bloc together during the sudden change in the House leadership last Sept. 17, when Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez resigned aa Speaker.
Dy and Rep. Marcos are party-mates over at the Partido Ferderal ng Pilipinas (PFP).
Speaking of unique challenges, the in-plenary trolling of "Congressmeow" Cavite 4th district Rep. Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga also failed to rattle Rep. Marcos, who was all business particularly during the exhaustive period of sponsorship and debates.
The 2026 GAB, embodied in HB No.4058, received 287 affirmative votes in plenary during nominal voting Monday. A total of 12 House members voted in the negative, while another two abstained.
