Boracay, Palawan, Siargao hailed anew as Asia's island icons in global travel awards

The Department of Tourism (DOT) expressed gratitude to international travelers after Boracay, Palawan, and Siargao were recognized among the Top 10 Islands in Asia in the 2025 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.
Boracay ranked fourth with 90.54 points, Palawan fifth with 90.23, and Siargao seventh with 85.49, based on votes from more than 700,000 readers worldwide.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco said the recognition serves as a testament to the beauty, resilience, and stewardship of the country’s island communities.
She added that the awards “belong to our people, their craft, and the spirit of ‘Love the Philippines’ that we proudly carry forward,” highlighting the vital role of local communities in preserving the nation’s natural treasures.
Other islands in the Top 10 include Phú Quốc, Vietnam (1st); Langkawi, Malaysia (2nd); Koh Samui, Thailand (3rd); Bali, Indonesia (6th); Andaman Islands, India (8th); Phuket, Thailand (9th); and Phi Phi Islands, Thailand (10th).
The DOT said the recognition further strengthens the Philippines’ standing as a premier tourism destination.
In 2024, Condé Nast Traveler likewise named Boracay, Palawan, Cebu, and Siargao among Asia’s best islands.
The World Travel Awards has also consistently honored the Philippines as Asia’s Leading Beach and Dive Destination, reinforcing the country’s growing list of international accolades.
Frasco encouraged travelers to practice responsible and sustainable tourism.
“We invite visitors to help protect these treasures by supporting local communities and preserving the natural beauty of our islands so that they remain vibrant and welcoming for generations to come,” she said.
