ILOILO CITY – Three Ilonggo military generals were honored by the Iloilo provincial government on Monday, Oct. 13.
Awarded during the flag ceremony were Lieutenant Generals Antonio G. Nafarrete, 67th commanding general of the Philippine Army; Luis Rex Bergante, the fourth commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Eastern Mindanao Command, and Gen. Jimmy Larida, 51st vice chief of staff of the AFP.
Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. led the recognition rites for the three Ilonggos, whose exemplary service brought immense pride and honor to the province.
Nafarrete is a native of Calinog town and alumnus of the West Visayas State University (WVSU).
Bergante is from Iloilo City and graduated from Central Philippine University (CPU).
Larida is from Dueñas town and is also a CPU alumnus.
The three Ilonggo military generals received a plaque of recognition and a copy of the Resolution of Commendation passed by the Iloilo provincial board.
Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, Vice Gov. Nathalie Ann “Lee Ann” Debuque, and Provincial Board Members Rolando “Rolly” Distura, Rica Jane Garin, Jo Ann Germinanda, and June Mondejar joined the governor in awarding the three Ilonggo military generals.
