The image of La Naval De Manila (Quezon City government)
More than 15,000 devotees joined the procession of La Naval de Manila on Sunday, Oct. 12, as the revered image returned to Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.
According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the procession lasted around three hours and drew large crowds along the route.
No untoward incidents were recorded. Several roads were temporarily closed to manage heavy traffic.
The image was brought back to Sto. Domingo Church at around 7:02 p.m., where devotees joyfully welcomed the image.
Mayor Joy Belmonte expressed her solidarity with the Catholic faithful and gratitude for the safe and successful celebration.
“Ako po ay taos-pusong nakikiisa sa napakahalagang pagdiriwang ito ng ating mahal na ina ng banal na rosaryo upang magpasalamat sa kanyang patnubay at proteksyon sa ating minamahal na Lungsod Quezon (I sincerely join in this very important celebration of our beloved Mother of the Holy Rosary to give thanks for her guidance and protection in our beloved Quezon City),” Belmonte said.
“Matapos ang ilang araw na puno ng mga makabuluhang selebrasyon—mula sa enthronement rites sa Sto. Domingo Church hanggang sa El Recorrido sa bawat distrito ng ating lungsod—ngayon ay muli tayong nagbabalik sa kanyang tahanan, pinagbuklod ng pananampalataya at pasasalamat (After several days filled with meaningful celebrations—from the enthronement rites at Sto. Domingo Church to El Recorrido in every district of our city—today we return to his home, united by faith and gratitude),” she added.
Belmonte also described the La Naval celebration as a strong expression of faith and unity among Quezon City residents.
“Ang pagdiriwang ng kapistahan ng La Naval ay isang malaking tradisyon ng lungsod. Ito ay matibay na patunay ng pananampalataya at pagkakaisa ng mga QCitizens (The celebration of the La Naval festival is a great tradition of the city. It is a strong proof of the faith and unity of QCitizens),” she said.
