Brothers collapse, convulse in Sampaloc after alleged use of 'tuklaw'
Two brothers suddenly convulsed and collapsed while crossing a road in Sampaloc, Manila, on Saturday afternoon, reportedly after using a substance known as “black cigarette” or “tuklaw.”
In CCTV footage obtained by authorities, one of the victims was seen crossing the street when he suddenly began shaking uncontrollably, his eyes rolling back before falling to the ground.
Moments later, another man, later identified as his brother, approached to help him but also collapsed beside him.
Witnesses said the second brother briefly regained strength, stood up, and then started punching his brother repeatedly before collapsing again.
The victims, aged 17 and 19, caused panic among bystanders, who quickly called for police assistance.
Responding officers immediately brought the two to a nearby hospital.
Initial investigation revealed that the brothers were allegedly seen earlier in the area smoking before the incident occurred.
Authorities believe that the use of tuklaw triggered the violent seizures and temporary paralysis observed in both victims.
Doctors said the two remain under medical observation. Police are continuing their investigation to confirm the source of the illegal substance and whether others were involved.
