A voluminous steaming event was observed at the main crater of Taal Volcano on Friday night, Oct. 10, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Per the agency, the activity occurred from 9:55 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. and produced a white plume that rose 2,100 meters above the crater, as recorded by the Taal Volcano Observatory (TVO) Thermal Camera.
“Time-lapse footage of voluminous steaming at the main crater of Taal Volcano that occurred at 09:55 PM to 10:45 PM, yesterday (10 October 2025). This event generated a white plume that rose 2100 meters above the crater as recorded by the Taal Volcano Observatory (TVO) Thermal Camera,” Phivolcs said in a Facebook post.
The agency explained that the emission of voluminous steam has been normal for Taal Volcano since its Jan. 12, 2020 eruption, which blanketed parts of Batangas and nearby provinces with ashfall.
“Emission of voluminous steam has been normal for Taal Volcano since the 12 January 2020 eruption,” Phivolcs noted.
It emphasized that Alert Level 1 remains in effect over Taal Volcano, which means the volcano is in an abnormal condition but shows no imminent eruption threat.
Phivolcs reminded the public that entry into Taal Volcano Island (TVI), the volcano’s permanent danger zone, is strictly prohibited due to the possibility of sudden steam-driven or phreatic explosions, toxic gas emissions, and volcanic earthquakes.
