An aftershock with a magnitude of 4.7 hit the waters off Manay, Davao Oriental, on Saturday night, Oct. 11, following the magnitude 5.8 earthquake that affected the same area earlier in the evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
According to Phivolcs, the aftershock occurred at 8:47 p.m. and was located 99 kilometers southeast of Manay, Davao Oriental.
It had a depth of 10 kilometers, the agency added.
The quake, Phivolcs said, was of tectonic origin, meaning it was generated by the movement of geological faults.
The agency said it does not expect damage.
At 6:27 p.m., a magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Manay, Davao Oriental.
Phivolcs said it was located 62 kilometers southeast of Manay, Davao Oriental, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
