Adamson rolled past University of the East, 54-43, to get back on the winning track in the UAAP Season 88 women’s basketball tournament at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City Saturday, Oct. 11.
Fresh off a 51-69 loss to reigning champion National University, the Lady Falcons bounced back in style and unleashed a 28-10 run spearheaded by Cheska Apag and Elainte Etang heading into the break.
Adamson calmly preserved its lead despite a third-quarter fightback from UE en route to their second win against three defeats at fifth.
The Lady Warriors remained winless in four outings.
Apag steadied Adamson’s ship with 13 points, four rebounds, one assist, and three steals, while Etang scored 10 which went with six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Rachel Lacayanga and Syvil Onate topscored for UE with nine points each also further skidded to their 14th straight defeat since the first round of Season 87.
In the juniors division, Edison Jordan lived up to his name and delivered a game-winning layup to lift Adamson past UE, 83-82, and surpass its last season’s outing with a current 4-2 win-loss record.
Despite finishing with only 12 points, Jordan’s crucial basket helped the Baby Falcons end their two-game skid, while spoiling three consecutive wins of the Junior Red Warriors, who now carry a 3-2 card.
He also posted three rebounds, four assists, and three steals with Keefe Iledan topped their scoring column with 19 points, while Vengcs Vengco added 13 points.
Goodluck Okebata had a double-double performance of 22 point and 21 rebounds on top of five steals, two blocks and two assists for UE, but his efforts went futile
In the second game, Miguel Jubilado dropped 27 points as University of Santo Tomas rallied in the third and turned back Ateneo, 83-74.
Jubilado collected 10 rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block with Rowie Cabañero backing him up with 14 points, 11 assists, six rebounds and three steals.
