Emerging talent Dwayne Garcia has unveiled his second single, "Para Na Muna," under the Star Music label.
In a media conference held in Quezon City, Dwayne spoke passionately about his dual passions for singing and acting.
"Ever since I was a kid, pangarap ko na talaga ang singing and acting. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumusuporta para matupad ang mga pangarap ko. (Singing and acting have been my dream. Thank you so much to everyone who supported me in making my dreams come true.)
"Hopefully, magustuhan ng Gen Z ang song ko kasi marami ang makakarelate who are in a relationship. Hindi sila ma-e-stress sa song ko kapag napakinggan nila ito. (Hopefully, Gen Z will like my song because many who are in a relationship can relate. They won't be stressed by my song when they listen to it)," Dwayne said.
Jonathan Manalo, Dwayne Garcia, and Joven Tan
Composed by Joven Tan, composer Jonathan Manalo of Star Music believes the song has the potential to become a hit.
"May potential siya of becoming a hit kasi nandun ang lahat ng elements na uso ngayon sa OPM. May alternative danceable na K-pop style perfectly combined by Direk Joven. I want to congratulate Dwayne and Direk Joven. Alam ko Dwayne na malayo pa ang mararating mo, and more songs to come. (He has the potential of becoming a hit because it has all the elements that are popular today in OPM. It's like an alternative danceable K-pop style perfectly combined by Direk Joven. I want to congratulate Dwayne and Direk Joven. I know Dwayne that you have a long way to go, and more songs to come)," Jonathan said.
Dwayne, 15, recorded his first single "Taym Perst Muna" in October 2023. "I am blessed that every year I have the opportunity to record a new song." Early this year, he made his debut in the movie "Outside De Familia" starring Gelli De Belen and Ruby Ruiz.
Asked why his two songs both have the theme of "pause," Dwayne remarked, "Lahat naman tayo may pinagdadaanan. Pero ang pinaka-effective na nakikita ko para mabigyan solusyon ang problem is to stop and think about the situation and solution. Like minsan pinapagalitan ako ng parents ko. So I take time to think about it para magkaroon ng solution. (We all go through things. But the most effective thing I find to solve a problem is to stop and think about the situation and the solution. Like, sometimes my parents scold me. So I take time to think about it to come up with a solution.)"
Proud of his parents
Dwayne took a moment to pay tribute to his parents, proud contractors who have tirelessly devoted their lives to building dreams from the ground up. Their craftsmanship and dedication have not only shaped countless homes but have also instilled in him a deep respect for hard work and perseverance.
"Matino naman ang parents ko bilang contractors. When he heard about contractors linked to the controversy, he asked his parents about their profession. (My parents are sensible as contractors. When he heard about contractors linked to the controversy, he asked his parents about their profession)," Dwayne said.
(They take me on site visits so I can learn. So I can see that my parents' profession is legit.)"
"Bilang anak ng contractors, dahil nasa issue ang ilan sa kanila ngayon, hindi maiiwasan na maghinala yung iba. But I trust my parents and they are genuine people. So nakakatulong naman sila sa mga tao by giving jobs and doing projects. Nakikita ko yun. (As a child of contractors, because some of them are in trouble right now, it's inevitable that others will be suspicious. But I trust my parents, and they are genuine people. So they help people by providing undertakings and doing projects. I can see that.)"
"Amaze ako sa kanila dahil may chance talaga na maging ganun ang mga parents ko pero hindi sila ganun. I admire them and idolize them because they set good examples. When I grow up, I want to be like those who have a good heart. (I'm amazed by them because my parents really had a chance to be like that, but they weren't. I admire them and idolize them because they set good examples. When I grow up, I want to be like those who have a good heart)," Dwayne added.
