Adamson banked on its first-half burst and held off University of the East, 77-62, to break its three-game slide in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City Saturday, Oct. 11.
The Falcons squandered a 45-22 lead heading into the break as the Warriors unleashed a third-quarter storm, outscoring Adamson, 33-12, to seize a slim 58-57 advantage going to the final period.
But Adamson held its ground, engineering a 12-1 spurt to regain control of the game for a 77-61 lead while suffocating UE with its stifling defense to improve to 2-4.
UE stayed winless in five games.
Ray Allen Torres impressed once again for Adamson after pouring in 16 points, three rebounds, and three assists, while Earl Medina added 15 points. Cedrick Manzano, for his part, had a quiet eight points.
“Siguro wala namang nag-click nag-stay compose lang kami sa system namin. Hopefully, magtuloy-tuloy na’ to,” said Torres.
“Yon naka-excute kami, we’re just playing our game… feels good, ngayon naglaro kami para manalo ‘yong team, nagtiwala si coach [Nash] sakin, kaya ginampanan kolang ‘yong tiwala nya,” he added.
John Abate produced another splendid outing for UE with 17 points, seven rebounds, and two assists, while Darryl Robles chipped in 14 points, but all their efforts went down the drain.
