Davao Oriental Gov. Nelson Dayanghirang ordered on Friday the full activation of the Provincial Emergency Operations Center and directed all Municipal DRRMOs to maintain heightened alert levels amid continuing aftershocks.
“Our priority is to ensure the safety of our people and to immediately restore access to isolated areas,” Dayanghirang said.
The governor added that they have mobilized their disaster teams and engineering personnel to assess damages, provide assistance, and coordinate with national agencies for needed support.
Dayanghirang urged residents to stay alert, remain calm and vigilant, especially those living in coastal and landslide-prone areas. "Avoid spreading unverified information and always rely on official updates from the province and your municipal governments."
The Provincial Information Office emphasized that the data reflect official submissions from Municipal Information Officers as of 7:41 p.m. and are subject to change as updates continue to come in.
Residents were urged to report any unlisted damages or affected families to their municipal hotlines to ensure accurate information and avoid confusion caused by incomplete reports.
Despite the extensive damage, the local DRRM teams, barangay volunteers, and first responders were praised for their quick response in conducting evacuations and rescue operations following the tremor.
Dayanghirang assured that relief operations will continue around the clock as the province begins its recovery and rebuilding efforts. “We will rise again, as one Davao Oriental," he said.
