House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy was quick to "kill" any chance that an impeachment complaint against President Marcos could have in the foreseeable future.
Thus, said Dy in a DZMM Teleradyo interview Friday, Oct. 10 after he was asked about the reported impeachment complaint prepared by self-proclaimed "congressmeow" Cavite 4th district Rep. Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga.
"Wala pa naman ho kaming natatanggap pero alam niyo naman, marami po tayong dapat asikasuhin. Unang-una, marami tayong problema sa ating bansa. Dapat unahin po natin muna yun bigyan ng solusyon," Dy said.
(We haven’t received anything yet, but as you know, we have many things to take care of. First and foremost, our country has many problems. We should prioritize solving those first.)
When asked by the radio program anchor if Dy believed that such a complaint won't forward in the House, the Isabela 6th district congressman categorically said, "Yes, tama po yan (that's correct)."
"Hindi ho priority ang impeachment ngayon sapagkat ang dami ho nating hinahanap na problema ng ating bansa (Impeachment isn't a priority right now due to the number of problems being confronted by the country)," he added.
The Speaker further qualified his answer by saying that he wasn't aware of Barzaga's plans.
"Wala pa rin naman pong naihain, o hindi ko po nabalitaan na mayroon pala siyang planong mag-file ng impeachment complaint laban sa Pangulo (Nothing has been filed yet, and I haven't heard about his supposed plan to file an impeachment complaint against the President)," Dy said.
In his vlog during plenary session Wednesday, Oct. 8, the eccentric Barzaga showed on camera an impeachment complaint against President Marcos for "betrayal of public trust".
Barzaga must file and endorse the impeachment complaint before the House secretary general.
The 300-plus House of Representatives is teeming with Marcos administration allies.
