The Senate on Friday, October 10, formally designated Senator Erwin Tulfo as the acting chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
It was Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III who declared Tulfo’s designation on the floor during the plenary session.
“We would like to place on record that we have designated Sen. Erwin Tulfo to be the acting chairman of the Blue Ribbon Committee inasmuch as he is the vice chair of the Public Accountability Committee,” Sotto said.
Last Wednesday, the Senate leader confirmed to the media the decision of the majority bloc in a caucus to designate Tulfo as the acting chairman of the committee which was previously headed by Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.
Lacson resigned last October 7, pointing to his colleagues’ disappointment at the alleged “direction” of the committee in investigating the controversies surrounding the government’s flood control projects in the country under his watch.
After making the announcement, Sotto later on declared the adjournment of the Senate’s session for the month-long Undas break. Sessions will resume on Nov. 10, 2025.
