DigiPlus' Brazil operations make 'strategic pause' after 3 weeks
DigiPlus Interactive Corp., the country’s leading online gaming provider, announced a “strategic pause” on its first Brazilian brand, GamePlus, following the soft launch last Sept. 22.
“We are taking the strategic step to pause GamePlus in Brazil so we can come back stronger with a digital entertainment offering that is not only locally relevant but also resonates deeply with Brazilian culture and entertainment habits,” said DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio H. Tanco.
The temporary pause, effective Oct. 10, forms part of DigiPlus’ long-term strategy to prioritize quality, cultural resonance, and sustainability, the firm said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE).
It said that over the past three weeks, DigiPlus has used the soft-launch period as a live learning laboratory, capturing valuable insights into Brazilian player behavior, cultural preferences, and entertainment dynamics.
The company noted that these findings will be instrumental in sharpening the company’s research and development (R&D) and guiding the design of a uniquely local game experience.
Teams in both the Philippine headquarters and Brazil are now channeling their efforts toward the development of a self-developed, best-in-class, and locally innovative product offering slated for a full-scale relaunch in early 2026.
DigiPlus said its entry into Latin America’s fastest-growing iGaming market is a significant step in its global expansion strategy and it is ready to thrive in the regulated market that generated $3.2 billion in gross gaming revenues (GGR) in its first semester.
The plan was, after GamePlus, DigiPlus will target to launch BingoPlus as its second platform in Brazil in 2026.
“GamePlus is designed to deliver simple, fun entertainment to the Brazilian market, filling a key strategic vertical for DigiPlus,” said DigiPlus Brazil Country Manager Graham Tidey.
He added that, “GamePlus will launch with a catalogue featuring over 150 of Brazil’s top games—both in free-to-play and real-money versions—and will soon add exclusive content inspired by local folklore, casual games, and sports, ensuring a culturally resonant experience.”
DigiPlus is also seeking to expand to South Africa and has formally filed its license applications with Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB).
The firm said it has applied for three operator licenses in South Africa: a national manufacturer license, a bookmaker license, and a bookmaker premises license.
WCGRB is regarded as the preferred jurisdiction for international operators like DigiPlus due to its transparent regulatory processes and digital readiness.
“The filing of our online gaming license in South Africa marks another milestone in DigiPlus’ global growth journey, as we bring our proven track record of innovation, responsible gaming, and player protection, together with our strength in localizing games for diverse markets, to one of Africa’s most dynamic economies,” said Tanco.
